This is Charlie’s column from today’s Guardian. As ever, it manages to capture a mood that would otherwise struggle to gain expression. In this instance, it is that emotive response to the arrival of the Tories back to Downing Street, but with the unexpected appendage of the LibDems, and the frustration of not having the cast of instant bogeymen a Tory mob was supposed to provide.
He can poke a sharpened stick into the eye of most things and manage to make it true and funny and the same time.
I wish I could do that.
Clever bastard.
Why write a blog at all? I should just post links to all of Charlie's columns with the heading: Something I wish I had written myself but I am clearly bereft of the skill and ingenuity and work ethic that would make such a feat possible.
Come to think of it that's probably not such a bad idea.
Then I could write something about, oh I dunno. Cake or something.
